Bank will issue RECEIPT signed by the officer for the amount of stamp duty paid by an applicant. For this purpose the applicant has to ascertain the correct quantum of stamp duty payable from the DRO/SRO and remit at linked branch of SBM/SBH/SBI. Up to Rs.500/- the applicant need not pay any exchange charges. For amounts above Rs.500/- the applicant will have to pay only 50% of the normal exchange charges applicable . The RECEIPT issued by the Bank will be valid for 14 days within which it has be to deposited at the SROs/DROs office. In case the RECEIPT is lost/misplaced the bank will not issue any duplicate receipt. However, a certificate certifying the payment of amount with the receipt number and date can be issued in consultation with SRO/DRO
A large number of documents executed by the public does not require registration at SROs/DROs and stamp duty on these documents will generally be of small value like Rs.10,20,50,100 or 200.To meet demand for a substitute stamp paper and also to collect stamp duty for the same, a document sheet (document paper) has been introduced.
